SONG STORY

In the summer of 2009, our Levites Ministry Team was ministering at a church in Hawaii. Our worship team had just finished doing its sound check for the evening’s worship service, and I sat down momentarily at the large grand piano in the church’s sanctuary. It was a beautiful church sanctuary, with large stained glass windows, and the sunlight was streaming through the stained glass, directly onto the place where I sat at the piano. I was freely playing unto the Lord a spontaneous song, when suddenly the lyrics and music for this song (Christ Our King) began flooding my being. The song virtually “wrote itself” as the lyrics and melodies tumbled out of my words and fingers on the keys. I had the sensation that the song itself was a gift of heaven, shining down from above as if through the sunlight beaming through the stained glass where I sat. It was an unforgettable moment of worship for me as I reflect on it. We have since included (in the music video) the imagery of sunlight pouring through a magnificent stained glass, as this is a reminder, not only of how this song came, but how Jesus Himself describes Himself as the Light which comes from heaven to earth. Our Levites Community worship team later had the privilege of worshiping in Israel, both at the beach at Caesarea (where the apostle Paul was imprisoned) and also at the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem. These were indescribably glorious moments in which to remember who Jesus is and what He has lovingly and sacrificially done for us. We sincerely hope and pray that everyone who experiences this worship song will personally encounter the risen Christ who so lovingly came and died so that we might have eternal life.

LYRICS

[Verse 1]
Glory, praise and honor to Christ our
humble King
Who laid aside His glory to bear our
suffering
The King of all the ages, who died upon
the cross
Who was and is and is to come

[Verse 2]
Glory, praise and honor to Him upon the
throne
Who laid aside His glory to wear a thorny
crown
His sacred head was wounded,
disgracefully in shame
The Lamb of God who bore our sin

[Chorus]
Holy, holy, holy Lord
The earth will sing Your praise
Worthy, worthy, Lamb of God
Forever You will reign!

[Verse 3]
Glory in the highest to Christ, the Lord of
all
Who came to pay our ransom, to free us
from the fall
Who gave His life an offering, to rescue
us from sin
Our King who died and rose again

[Verse 4]
Glory in the highest to Christ the glorious
One
Ignobly sown in sorrow, the seed who
died alone
Now raised to life forever, eternally to
reign
Our King who died and rose again

[Tag1]
Jesus, the Name above all names
Jesus, forever You will reign

[Tag2]
Forever You will reign
